Barbara J. Smith, CPA, the owner of Island Tax and Accounting, LLC has over 40 years of experience in the accounting industry. Ms. Smith earned her B.S. in Accounting at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Barbara started her career in the small business audit division of Arthur Andersen’s Washington, DC office. After moving to Seattle, Barbara continued her career with Moss Adams, a regional CPA firm. Then, Barbara accepted a position as a Tax Manager with Beers and Cutler in Washington, DC. She continued her career as a Chief Financial Officer for Adler and Adler Publishing, Inc. in Bethesda, Maryland. From 2014 to 2017, Ms. Smith served as Chief Financial Officer for Gateway Telecom, LLC in Wheeling, West Virginia.
In addition to maintaining CPA licenses in Virginia and Maryland, Ms. Smith is an advanced certified QuickBooks Online and Desktop ProAdvisor which requires annual education and re-certification.
