Christopher A. Davis is a member of the Corporate and Securities Practice, and advises businesses and individuals in a general corporate and tax transactional practice including corporate tax, partnership tax, international tax. Christopher regularly assists closely held business clients with entity formation, tax-based planning, merger and acquisition transactions, leveraged buy-outs, venture capital and private equity transactions, and internal reorganizations. Christopher represents businesses and individuals in cross border tax and business planning including tax issues involving overseas operations, international licensing and holding company structures, asset repatriation, and cross border mergers and acquisitions. Christopher also assists international clients with structuring the acquisition and ownership of U.S. real property to comply with federal and state laws, including the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA). Christopher also advises business on domestic reporting requirements related to overseas operations including Foreign Bank Account Reporting (FBAR) and related compliance issues. Christopher has an active practice representing tax exempt organizations including public and private foundations, charitable organizations, hospitals, educational institutions and governmental agencies, assisting them with such issues as formation and qualification, corporate governance, joint ventures, and related matters. Christopher regularly donates his time to local and national nonprofit organizations, assisting them on a pro bono basis with various matters. Christopher is an active member of the local and national bar associations, serving as a committee member on the Maryland State Bar Association’s Middle Market and Small Business Committee, and as a member of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association. In 2011, Christopher received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business where he focused on corporate and venture financing. Christopher is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he was the Business Editor of the University of Baltimore Law Review. During the summer of 2006, Christopher participated in the Firm’s summer associate program.
