Leigh joined RMG’s Tax Controversy group in December 2014. She represents individuals and businesses in white collar criminal investigations and prosecutions, with a particular focus on criminal tax matters, and civil tax controversies and litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Leigh investigated and prosecuted cases throughout the United States on behalf of the Department of Justice Tax Division, Western Criminal Enforcement Section. As an Assistant Chief since 2010, she supervised approximately 25 trial attorneys. In 2013, Leigh was co-counsel in the prosecution of United States v. Hough in the Middle District of Florida, a successful foreign bank prosecution that proceeded to trial and resulted in convictions for filing false tax returns and a restitution award in excess of $15.5 million. She received a Tax Division Outstanding Attorney award for her work on this prosecution. In 2008, Leigh was co-counsel on United States v. Evanson, et al. in the District of Utah, in which the lead defendant was convicted of conspiracy to defraud and to commit mail and wire fraud, tax evasion, and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns, and the subject of a substantial forfeiture order. For her work on the Evanson case, she and her trial team received a National Asset Forfeiture Award. While working for the Department of Justice, Leigh also spent time as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the White Collar Fraud Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah. Prior to joining the Department, she served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Howard County, Maryland. Leigh began her legal career as an associate with Gordon Feinblatt. Leigh is a graduate of American University, Washington College of Law, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She is licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She serves as RMG's representative for Mackrell International, a global network of independent law firms.
