Richard Gottfried, CPA, M.S. in Taxation has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Syracuse University. He worked for eight years in New York City with the Big 8 public accounting firms for Deloitte and KPMG in their audit department. He worked for three years in New Haven, CT as an internal auditor for a savings bank and for a small regional public accounting firm. In August 1990, he moved to Rockville, MD and worked ten years as a Controller for several for-profit companies in the furniture, car rental, real estate, and promotional advertising industries in the Washington, DC area. He graduated from Georgetown University in May 1993 with a Masters of Science degree in Taxation. He worked six years for various not for profit organizations. Richard has been teaching both undergraduate and graduate accounting classes from principles of accounting, cost, intermediate accounting, federal income taxation, corporate/partnership taxation and auditing since 1987 for various colleges and universities. Richard was awarded the Faculty of the Year Award in July 2014 by the University of Phoenix. Richard also teaches the required Maryland Continuing Education classes and the Maryland Exam Prep at a local community college for several years. In addition, Richard is a Delegate and member of MSATP. President of the Twinbrook Citizens Association, and Treasurer for the Mattie J.T. Stepanick Foundation.
