Toby’s insurance career began in 1988 when he originally joined MetLife in the Southeastern Territory as an Advanced Underwriting Consultant. In 1998, he went to Canada Life Assurance Company in its US Home Office to lead its advanced markets department as Advanced Sales Executive and serve as its Ad Hoc Tax Counsel for the US subsidiary. From 1999 until 2009, Toby was a Corporate Vice President and Advanced Planning Consultant with New York Life in the South Central Zone. Toby returned to MetLife as the Regional Advanced Markets Director for Southeast Region in November 2011. During Toby’s insurance career, he has supported the various field forces on cases involving high net worth clients and their professional advisors in the areas of estate planning, business planning, retirement planning and tax planning. Toby has been member of the Florida Bar since 1984 and practiced law in Tampa, Florida concentrating in the areas of taxation, business planning and retirement planning. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and has served as an exam reviewer for the Real, Property, Probate and Trust Section’s Estate Planning Certification and a judge for the Law Student Division’s Moot Court Competition. Toby also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting and Business Law at Kennesaw State University. Toby received his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in 1980 and his Master of Accounting (MAcc) from Kennesaw State University in 2011.
