EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Comptroller of Maryland, the Maryland Governor’s Office and the Maryland General Assembly are evaluating the effects of the recently enacted Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) on the Maryland Tax Code and the State’s tax revenues. As a federal conformity state, Maryland, for the most part, piggybacks on the federal law for individual and corporate income taxes. This program will discuss: (1) the State tax implications of the TCJA; (2) whether Maryland will remain “coupled” to the changes in the TCJA, decouple from the changes, or take some other action in response to the TCJA; and (3) the specific changes to the Maryland Tax Code enacted by the State. This program will also discuss the anticipated complexities in State tax compliance and Comptroller’s office policies and procedures.

EVENT OBJECTIVE

Upon completion of the seminar the attendee will learn how the 2018 Tax and Jobs Act will affect the taxpayers in Maryland and how to properly report their Maryland income and expenses for 2018.
