EVENT DESCRIPTION
The program will review the many changes of the comprehensive 2017 tax legislation affecting both individuals and businesses, discuss ambiguities in the law and point out planning opportunities. A particular emphasis will be on choice of business entity following the reduction of the corporate tax rate and the creation of a special deduction for most unincorporated businesses. Other topics of particular interest for businesses will include expanded cost recovery, expansion of cash basis accounting, new operating loss rules, the business interest deduction. Of particular interest for individuals will be the loss of many itemized deductions, modifications to education incentives, the doubling of the estate tax applicable exemption and the loss of the alimony deduction.
