Deregulation legislation allows residential and commercial customers to stay with their current energy supplier or purchase on a contract basis, from a licensed supplier: CQI Associates developed the concept of an energy purchasing cooperative in 2003. Today, we remain the industry leader in the expansion of a cooperative purchasing program designed to help a consumers and businesses to reduce their energy costs.
CQI Associates created the Energy Co-Op to help residential and commercial customers in Maryland, District of Columbia, and Delaware save money by providing competitive rates available for electricity and natural gas supply services.
CQI Associates has a unique business model: instead of each consumer calling a third party energy supplier and negotiating rates based on one accounts usage, CQI Associates negotiated competitive rates, based on the volume of accounts through a purchasing cooperative.
The local utility companies: BGE, Delmarva Power, MD & DE, PEPCO MD & DC, Potomac Edison, and Washington Gas, MD & DC will still distribute the power to the Co-Op members’ accounts, maintain the lines, and read the meters. In case of an outage, they are responsible for the restoration of the services.
