Richard Gottfried, CPA is a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.S. in Accounting and of Georgetown University with a M.S. in Taxation. Currently, Richard has his own accounting and tax practice in Rockville, Maryland. For over twenty-seven years, Richard has been providing tax services for small to medium-sized companies and individuals. Richard is an adjunct faculty member for several colleges and universities in the Washington area, teaching various accounting and business courses for undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Richard’s previous experience includes working for the Big Four public accounting firms in New York City, for a CPA firm in New Haven, Connecticut, as a controller for family-owned businesses in Maryland and as a director of finance for not-for-profit organizations in Washington, DC. Richard has been a member of the Maryland Society of Accounting and Tax Professionals since 2002 and is currently serving as Second Vice President. He is also the Student and Faculty Membership Chair, CPR Committee and the Education Committee. Richard has received the MSATP Fellow award every year since 2012. Currently, Richard serves as the President for the Twinbrook Citizens Association. Richard is the Volunteer Montgomery College Business Club Faculty Advisor and is a board member on the SEIU Local 500 Part-Time Faculty Union. Richard is also a member in several clubs such as MCDCC, RMCDBC, MC Civic Federation, and the D17 Club. Richard will be running as a candidate in the June 26, 2018 Primary for Montgomery County Council At-Large race. Richard also plays the piano and various percussion instruments and has been a part of wind ensembles, marching bands and pep bands. Richard resides in Rockville, Maryland with his wife, Stacey.
